The Role: Project Manager

Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Project Manager will execute Waste Heat to Power (WHP) and other decarbonization projects for Kanin. 

We are looking for someone with proven experience managing projects that can immediately pick up the reigns on one of our WHP project opportunities. This opportunity aims to evolve into managing a portfolio of similar projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to drive execution of project activities through project scope definition, FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning 
  • Plan, coordinate, & manage all project activities 
  • Run internal and external project meetings  
  • Professionally own primary contact with client partners, project financiers, vendors/suppliers, EP/EPC execution partners, service providers, etc. 
  • Develop and manage project charters, cost estimates, spend profiles, schedules, interconnection applications, vendor RFQs, third-party engineering services, grant applications, procurement deliverables, construction deliverables, and more 
  • Manage EPC(M) engineering, procurement, and construction execution 
  • Prepare and present weekly reports on project status to client partners 
  • Travel to field sites across North America 

Ideal Candidate:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in project engineering and/or project management  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree 
  • Experience leading project teams, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving project success 
  • Canadian or American Professional Engineer 
  • Strong technical background and familiarity with project document review, engineering document control processes, project approval processes, etc. 
  • Self-driven person with strong analytic & problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders 
  • Capability and ability for occasional travel to project and partner sites across Canada and USA  

Assets/Differentiators:

Any of: 

  • Experience managing industrial power projects, natural gas compression projects, steel manufacturing projects, electric arc furnace projects, petroleum refining projects, distributed electrical generation projects or other similar projects 
  • Electrical Engineering or Power System Engineering experience 
  • Experience with distributed energy projects 
  • Field or on-site experience (field Project Engineer, MOC Project Engineer, etc.) 
  • EPC(M), project developer, and/or electrical utility experience 
  • Experience managing equipment suppliers/vendors 
  • Experience executing contracts for any of FEED activities, equipment purchase, execution partner (EPC, design-build, time & materials, etc.) including supporting negotiations, terms & conditions review, etc.
