Senior Project Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will execute Waste Heat to Power (WHP) and decarbonization projects for Kanin.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute a variety of WHP and decarbonization projects
  • Conduct project technical assessments and feasibility reviews (including electrical generation potential, electrical interconnection concerns, constructability concerns, and integration considerations)
  • Define project scope and develop project studies, charters, estimates, schedules, etc.
  • Coordinate & run project meetings with client partners, suppliers, EP/EPC firms, service providers, etc.
  • Manage procurement of equipment, engineering services, and on-site services
  • Manage execution of project activities through FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning
  • Lead the electrical interconnection application process for Kanin projects
  • Prepare and present weekly reports on project status to client partners
  • Travel to field sites across North America

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years relevant experience coordinating or managing power or electrical projects
  • Experience with distributed energy projects preferred
  • Field or site experience preferred
  • Experience with transmission/distribution interconnection applications
  • Strong analytic, problem solving and written/oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  • Canadian or American Professional Engineer

Senior Energy Markets Analyst

Kanin Energy is hiring a Senior Energy Markets Analyst to support the Commercial and Projects team. The position will report to the Chief Development Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and understand macro trends and nuances in utility and environmental markets across North America
  • Develop strong relationships with utilities & regulatory agencies
  • Identify power purchase agreement & RFP opportunities with corporates and utilities
  • Lead the interconnection application process for Kanin projects
  • Understand and model utility tariffs for project evaluations
  • Support the negotiations of corporate power purchase agreements and utility contracts
  • Understand and model environmental markets applicable to Kanin projects
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify market opportunities

Ideal Candidate:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 5+ years of experience at a utility or clean energy developer
  • Direct experience with interconnection applications
  • Deep knowledge of energy markets and the utility industry in Canada and/or the United States
  • Understanding of environmental markets
  • Renewable energy experience preferred
